Synopsis: Alyssa Moran is tired of being the old cat lady with no man. She has very specific needs and goes to visit Mrs. Wilder at the Paranormal Dating Agency. Shockingly enough, she is promised a man who likes cats, wants kids, likes curves and will be wild in bed.
Grayson Green needs a mate. Fast. But he refuses to be pushed into anything. That is, until a curvy funny woman shows up in his territory saying she’s there for him. Who is he to argue with someone as delectable as Alyssa decides she wants to give herself to him?
Of course, not all is at it seems and some people want Alyssa gone and Gray dead. If Gray mates, the future of his pride will be sealed and no one can argue his place as leader. Unless it can be stopped before they ever get a chance to make some cubs. He will have to work hard at convincing a human she’s the only one for him or lose his pride and his mate.
My review: This is the third of four in this series so far (you can read my reviews for #1 here and #2 here) and it follows the same sort of plot line as the previous two. Alpha male with lots of testosterone plus BBW with a love of cake (again with the cake?!), the difference I suppose with this one is that this particular Alpha doesn’t want a mate.
Gray is the leader of a pride of tigers (can I get an amen?) and would rather fight his battles like the animal that he is inside than find a mate that he doesn’t want and he sticks to his guns at least until he meets Alyssa Moran. Then he seems to change his mind pretty quickly and there doesn’t appear to be much of a mating connection at all, pure sexual tension and that’s about it.
Alyssa takes the news that Gray is a shapeshifter pretty well (she’d have to, seeing as she contacted Mrs Wilder and her Paranormal Romance Agency to find herself a date), she’s a cat lady so she’s not bothered by his being a Tiger either. No problem. What bothered me was how easily she gave in when he explained to her that he was looking for someone to have his cubs.
Sorry what? Normal people do not just roll over and say “hey, yeah its cool we just met. Impregnate me now please so I can save a bunch of people I don’t know.” Yeah about that. She doesn’t know any of them, she agrees to have Gray’s cubs within about 3 days of knowing him and he spent the first day or so trying to avoid the hell out of her and protecting her from getting killed by other pride members who don’t want a human around.
Then when Alyssa realises that Gray doesn’t want love in any way, shape or form, she makes a run for it back to Mrs Wilder and doesn’t expect Gray to come after her. He does, confesses his love for her (after a short period of time) and lets her know she’s carrying his cubs.
This was also the third book where the lead female character had an issue with her weight that caused herself to make herself feel bad. I get it, Milly. I get it. Also the third book where the lead female character had an near uncontrollable addiction to cake. It’s getting a bit stereotypical for my tastes.
I liked Her Purrfect Match but no where near as much the first two installments, though I did move on to the fourth.
My rating: 3 stars
