That’s What HE Said Thursday is a weekly book meme as hosted by Chapter Break. Every Thursday post a favourite line from your book boyfriend to his heroine. A piece of dialogue direct from a book and not a description of the male in question.
For this weeks That’s What HE Said Thursday I’m taking a quote from a character that means a lot to me and to thousands of other people. I remember picking up the first book Fantasy Lover when I was 16 – fresh off the press on release day in what was then Ottakars book shop. I owe a lot of my book purchases to Ottakars, they’re so much better than Waterstones and the Barnes and Nobles here are so far and few between it’s hard to find a nice one.
The idea of Fantasy Lover was great and I ended up buying the rest of the series each year it was released, I had a standing pre-order for each book. Now throughout the course of the series we met a character who was one of the most unobtainable characters I’ve ever read but I still fell head over heels in love with him. He was the forbidden fruit and I just couldn’t get enough of him.
The series is currently 42 books strong and still going and helped me out through some pretty dark times and for that I will be forever grateful. I was lucky enough to meet Sherrilyn a few years ago when she came to England for a signing in a little independent book store near Shaftesbury Avenue – myself and my mum met her husband and her two sons also and they’re all fantastic people.
Us Menyons waited at least 6 years from the release of the first novel to the one I’m taking my quote from. In 2008, Sherrilyn Kenyon finally released Acheron.
The quote I will be taking is not between Acheron and his lady- although technically, she is or at least was his lady – it is between Acheron “Ash” Parthenopaeus and Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt and his boss among other things.
