WWW Wednesday #15 – 14th October 2015

WWW WednesdaysThis is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.  You can participate by answering three simple questions.

My last WWW Wednesday post was early September, I’ve been slacking horribly on updating my blog for health reasons but I’m back – sort of.  I’m posting the books that I’ve read since last Wednesday and I’m linking back to my September Wrap-Up for the rest of the books I’ve read since the 9th September.

All images link back to their respective Goodreads page.

What aThe Darkest Part of the Forestm I currently reading?Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires #13)

I picked up The Darkest Part of the Forest from my local library, I’d heard good reviews about it so figured I’d give it a go. I’ve only read a few chapters as it takes me longer to read physical books these days (BOOOO!) but what I’ve read so far is quite interesting to say the least.

I’m also reading Bitter Blood by Rachel Caine, I’m struggling with the series at the moment after blitzing through the first eleven I’ve slowed down a lot.  I’m still enjoying it though.

Finally I’ve picked up a book I placed on hiatus to see if I could finish it. Still having the same issue with Her Dragon to Slay by Julia Mills as before but I’ll carry on with it.

Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12)What did I recently finish reading? Branded (Sinners #1)

I’ve been reading the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. I started off so well – reading the first nine in under a week but from number 11 I’ve slowed down. I finished Black Dawn recently and it was alright, I think that the series still has a good amount of drama in it but I’m wondering where Rachel will take the series now.

I also finished Branded by Abi Ketner & Missy Kalicicki, although it was an alright read I was a bit disappointed with the characters, I felt they were too weak especially Lexi (the main character.) It was an interesting concept to be sure but interesting concept alone does not a good book make.

I’ve also read several novellas and several serial installments.  I hate serials, there is nothing worse than having the book split into multiple smaller books. Release the serials as a complete book and I’ll be happy.

I read Darkest Flame: Part 1 and Part 2 by Donna Grant, Incubus Among Us #1 by Mac Flynn, Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part 1 by Jessie Donovan and Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews – this was more a novelette than a novella but still quite good, I like Ilona Andrews work immensely. I also finished Lord of Misrule Vol. One by J.S. Hope, Dane by Liliana Hart, The Setup by L.N. Pearl and Temptation Road by Kimball Lee.

The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings, #1)What do I think I’ll read next?Archangel's Enigma: A Guild Hunter Novel (Guild Hunter series)

The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward I hope! It’s still top of the list but I’m reading loads of random books I’m picking out of my kindle. Considering the fact that it’s over 1500 strong I have plenty of choice!

I really really want to read Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh but I also don’t want to because again, I don’t like waiting.

I’m determined to get a bunch of my Future-Reads shelf read, it’s over a 1000 long and I’m determined to get it to 999 by the end of the year at least!

What are you reading and loving this week?
